My Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop (Ubuntu Studio), Compiz Fusion
Before I begin, I would like to say that I was not interested in Linux based operating systems because they seemed to basic to me. I had Windows Vista, and even though I had problems with it, I did not want to "play with" an operating system that is the primary OS of "GEEKS." That said, I am now one of these "Linux Geeks" and I love it! Eventually, my Windows vista started giving me a million problems even though I installed the updates and service pack. Everytime I would install an update, one minute later it would tell me that the update is available for install. I didnt like that, or the bugs that it carried. Then, I wanted to reinstall the system from day one (the install CD does not come with Vista). I found out that vista has a CD .ISO saved onto the system, so I chose the option to make the CD. Then, after one second, windows told me it was done. The size of the .ISO was 1kb... I knew there was an error, so I went back to remake the CD and it told me that I can only make 1 replacement CD for the life of my Vista. I said &&%^$#@^!!!, and Installed Ubuntu on my computer and I have never been happier. With Ubuntu, or any Linux based OS, you can make your computer look, feel, and do practically anything imaginable, and the programs are so much better. Yeah, if you are a big gamer, DONT get LINUX- YET, most game developers have not designed their games for Linux based OS, but if you want a reliable system that will cause you more joy than grief, GET UBUNTU.
