How To Install CyanogenMod 7 On Your Android Device

Moving from your current ROM to CyanogenMod 7 is pretty easy. While I'm using a Nexus One (also called HTC Passion), these general steps should work for most Android-based devices. Prerequisites! First you will need a custom recovery image on your phone, such as ClockworkMod or AmonRa. I use AmonRa, which is documented and available from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829 Next you will need the ZIP files of CyanogenMod 7 and Google Apps for your device somewhere on your phone's SD card, available here: http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices Before flashing any file, you should verify its MD5 signature against the one provided to make sure you're not flashing a corrupt file. Please note that while it is next to impossible to irreparably "brick" your phone by following these steps, I am not responsible for any problems you may experience. I am not associated with CM7.

I will be posting a full review after having more time to play with the device. So far the device seems snappy, probably the fastest Android device I've ever used. We'll see how it stacks up against the iPad 2.
